Verbal abuse towards staff today.
Once again, one of our receptionists has been shouted and sworn at, at the beginning of her shift today.
Verbal abuse is not tolerated at any time, and action will always be taken against patients who treat our staff in his manner.
*** However, although we support our staff in every way possible, we are unable to undo the negative impact this has on the individual person involved – and they will carry this upset with them throughout the remainder of their day ***
The majority of our patients are kind, understanding and respectful.
To those who continue to abuse staff, may I remind you that this is not permitted at any time.
Please take a minute to think how you would like your wife, your daughter, your mother, your grandmother to be treated while she is carrying out her job, serving the public.
Staff have been advised to terminate calls from abusive patients, after providing a warning regarding their behaviour.
Staff do not remain in the role of receptionist long-term, because of the abuse that is sometimes directed at them.
We wish to continue to provide an efficient service to ‘all’ patients, but, we need plenty of staff to be able to do this.
We respectfully request that patients treat staff with respect at all times.
