Verbal Abuse – Zero Tolerance
While the majority of our patients are polite and respectful towards our staff, our receptionists have again received verbal abuse recently from the minority of patients who feel that they are allowed to shout and swear at our girls, and demand what we are not in a position to offer.
They are mistaken; rudeness, shouting and swearing is never acceptable behaviour.
While we appreciate that patients are often anxious, distressed and sometimes frustrated, when they contact us, we will always treat you with respect, and expect to be treated with respect in return.
Particularly surprising this week is the verbal abuse received from young people towards older members of our Team.
All calls are recorded and action will always be taken against patients who verbally abuse our staff.
Please remember, your receptionist is also a patient, and is likely to be dealing with her own concerns, anxieties and bereavements.
